I had chosen to use 27.5 earlier on a fat recumbent as summer tyres with semi slicks and decided to continue with the size. I also used my earlier 170 mm rear hub. So my chose was based on what I already had as I bought my bike as a frame kit. I'm about 180 tall with pretty long legs for my height ...

Another thing about the Azub Max vs the Specbike Extrim is that the Max seems to have a somewhat higher bottom bracket. I'm not completely sure, but it seems that way from the Sauki's and Richard's and Vladimir's videos at least :) The P-38 has taught me that I like a bottom bracket that doesn't mak...

So the options with pictures so everyone knows what we're comparing: A) Azub Max, limited to about 57 mm tyre width which is the bikes main draw back as far as I know Weight balance is around 45-55 (front-rear, with luggage adding to rear) B) Specbike Extrim, I know you can get it with forks for up...

Hello again, Finnish friends. As promised I am here to report back on my first winter biking experience. We didn't really get any snow in Oslo until now, so in December I just rode with regular on studded tires on the tarmac. But now: A little bit of snow, at least! My experience after some rides wi...

I think it's a good idea to get a feel for winter riding with what you already have and then start considering something based on what you learn from the attempt.

Wise words! That's a plan, I think. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks guys! This is really useful. Unfortunately I don't know anybody in Norway who rides a recumbent bike during winters, so nobody to ask there :) It's probably a good advice to just start out with the P-38. I think it's basically a perfect bike for city traffic, so might be worth it to see if I ...

You need a good suspension  Thanks! Sorry for the late response - do you think suspension is useful during winter because of comfort, or more because it can make it easier for the wheels/bike to get over small heaps of ice and snow etc? I started riding through winters with a Azub mini 20/20 ...

I had Challenge Hurricane with 20” wheels and I did ride it in winter with Schwalbe studded tyres. It is doable if roads are well plowed. In deep snow you need larger wheels. Nowdays I have Azub Max 26” and I’ve been riding with it few winters already. I’ve been using Continental studdless winter t...

Hello Finnish recumbent friends, hope it is ok that I write a message in English! I'm a fairly new recumbent biker from Norway. I want to start riding a recumbent bike this winter for my commute, previously I've only used an upright MTB with studded tires. I've come to this forum since I think this ...
