Paul's tilting Python trike ?
Hi all
I came here looking for advice on building and ' improved ' FlevoTrike.
I then bought myself a very used/damaged FlevoTrike , and now have enough parts for assembly.
However in the mean time I have build a tilting Python trike that works very well
So I wanted tilting as I wanted a trike [ like the Flevo ] with a high seat 48cm and a narrow track 55cm
Initially the whole Python front end and the seat tilted , this had control difficulties and I stopped riding it [ dangerous ! ]
Then I realised I only needed to tilt the rider and so built the trike below.
So it can do this.
The seat is on a subframe and is attached to the main boom by 2 elastomers , stiffer than the Flevotrike one.
This means the seat tilts when needed , however as can be seen it stands without a tilt lock and does not appear to be dangerous to ride.
The only downside is that it cannot be ridden far no hands as it is difficult to control the tilt using only your feet.
As it has almost no ' learning curve ' compared to a FlevoTrike I can live with that.
all the best Paul
